Here is the update of the global autonomous driving network after the CES 2021.
Some highlights that were added or that are noteworthy to mention:
- Daimler Trucks is working with multiple players to develop technology for self driving trucks and maybe use the learnings for smaller vehicles as well
- Tesla is collaborating with Samsung on the next computing / chip unit for the autonomous vehicles
- Chinese player like WeRide, AutoX and Didi follow through on their mission with public operations and large funding rounds
- With Luminar, Ouster, InnoViz, Velodyne and AEVA, multiple LiDAR players went public via a so called SPAC
- Uber handed over the self driving tech unit to Aurora
- Zoox, bought by Amazon last year, unveiled the Zoox Pod and one of the Zoox founders started a new company in de AD-tech space, called HYPR
- With Shell and bp, two big oil companies are investing in self-driving technology
- NVIDIA continues to be the spider in the web, mainly used for computing
